Generations Connect

An Aged and Youth Empowerment Program

Generations Connect is an aged and youth empowerment volunteer program for high school and primary school students, and aged care residents. Generations Connect encourages, supports and increases participation in volunteering at an early age and assists students in making the transition from school to work while enhancing their employability skills. It also enhances empathy, bridges the generational gap, improves community connectedness and social inclusion.

Primary school and high school students will visit the aged care facility on a weekly basis together, and do various activities together such as arts and crafts, cooking, and much more!

Objectives:

  • Bridging the Generational Gap – sharing values, culture and heritage
  • Employment Pathways – increasing knowledge about employment pathways and the Health & Aged Care Industry (an industry in high demand)
  • Employability Skills – learning and increasing skills used in both school and the workplace
  • Volunteering & Empowerment – encouraging, supporting and increasing community participation in volunteering at an early age
  • Wellbeing – improving the aged resident’s and student’s self-esteem, physical and mental health through regular interaction
  • Appreciating Diversity in the Community – improving community connectedness and social inclusion
